I love the story of how Paul met Heather, Linda’s daughter. When he and Linda had been dating for a while, he called up Heather (only a little girl at the time) and jokingly asked her to marry him. When she said, “I can’t, you’re too old!”, Paul responded with, “Oh yes, of course. I forgot that. Well, maybe I should marry your mummy then. That’d be good.”
Pistols shots ring out in the barroom night
Enter Patty Valentine from the upper hall
She sees the bartender in a pool of blood
Cries out “My God they killed them all”
Here comes the story of the Hurricane
The man the authorities came to blame
For something that he never done
Put him in a prison cell but one time he coulda been
The champion of the world.
I’m really saddened by the death of Rubin “Hurricane” Carter yesterday. He was 76, but was stolen almost 20 years of his life being wrongly convicted for a crime he didn’t commit. Bob Dylan wrote this song about him in 1975. Rest in peace, Hurricane.
